LIP INJECTION 02

not uploading to youtube yet because i have no idea how to preserve audio quality or a consistent way to make mp4s with the album pic without downloading editing software to my already suffering laptop. i plan to figure it out sometime later this week.

i'm trying to be more selective with which tracks i put a lot of effort into to avoid burning out, but it's hard to balance that along side learning new things. but i guess it will work out. stopped using templates after a point because they were doing more harm than good. will probably create my own genre templates eventually. i also spent a week doing actually nothing because of health issues. so not a lot of new projects, mostly adding to and starting to arrange older projects.

Track Commentary:

TRACK 1 052024a 0

for this track i was practicing sound design using this tutorial for the pads. the tutorial is for serum but since i don't have that i just used sytrus in fl studio it has all the same controls. i really liked how this turned out considering i didn't do very much. the high percussion is kind of annoying i hate that i didn't switch it up more but whatever i can do that later.

i want the track to be like twice as long as this draft, so i'll have to add more. layers so it doesn't get too boring.

TRACK 2 050724a 0

was using the fl studio house/edm template for this. tried to do something with the vocal sampler in there but tbh it really sucks i hate it i should just set up my own vocal sample pack to use instead.

is the automatic sytrus preset that appears when you open it (i have no idea where that preset even exists, its not the default) i just warped it a bit um i think i messed around with the waveform i really don't remember.

this whole arrangement was just me putting a few of the loops i made into the playlist without bothering to smooth out the transitions. this sounds so happy and i don't know if i like that.

TRACK 3 050924a 0

was experimenting with drum samples from a sample pack i downloaded a while ago. the sample rate for the samples was off for some reason (i'm gonna be real, i don't even fully understand how it effects things) and every time the pattern looped it would be slightly out of sync so i couldn't really build much with that. ended up just bouncing the loop to audio and putting it in slicex but that made it sound choppy. i think in the future i might be able to get around the problem by loading them into fpc but i haven't tried it yet.

i was trying to do a sort of 90s hip hop beat. threw some reverb and distortion/compression to make it sound more dated. the bass is just a built in gms preset iirc.

it was fun to make but i don't ever see myself using this.

TRACK 4 051324a 0

another arrangement that's just patterns in the playlist in an order that sounds somewhat reasonable.

another attempt at the 90s/y2k vibe this time slicing up native drum loops so i was able to do much more. obvs sounds much more modern because the synths i was using. currently obsessed w the olbaid sytrus preset pack, especially the plucks, and i'm pretty sure i'm using a few of them in here.

i have a vision for this in the back of my head but it would take so much work to execute so this will probably end up in the graveyard.

TRACK 5 051424a 0

eurodance/eurobeat inspired. the arrangement is so half assed but i did not have the energy to even try and bridge the gaps between the different loops.

used fl keys for the keys, pretty sure the pads are minisynth, all the drum samples are fl studio native and of course the vocal samples which i got from the fl legacy library i believe. will probably remove the vocal samples from future versions(?) since they don't add anything.

TRACK 6 051524a 0

literally the only pattern in the project but it sounds so fun. a mix of fl native samples and samples that i downloaded.

TRACK 7 051724a 0

i have no idea what i wanted from this. i will likely never use this. glad that it exists tho. the pattern way at the end was a something i couldn't find an inoffensive way to work into the main arrangement. all the drum samples are fl native and half of them are from the foley kit, and main synth is sytrus olbaid lead mono 8 bits synth. dx 10 bass pluck for bass in last pattern.

EDIT the foley kit is not an fl studio kit this whole time i thought it was but it's not, i got it from somewhere else.

TRACK 8 051924a 0

very fun, very pop. tried to draft a top-line for the verses but idk... also the third one is an octave too high not sure why. i will probably work on this for my current project because i think it has potential. but its also one of those things where i'm like,, do i only like this because it sounds like it could have been made by someone else?

TRACK 9 052024b 0

was practicing arpeggios using this tutorial, so it wan't my intention to do much with this project but i ended up making a few loops i liked so i threw together a quick arrangement to see how it might sound.

TRACK 10 052024c 1

another arpeggio practice, this time following along with a different tutorial. this one is all one chord. it also sounds like another song i've heard before but i can't place it lmao. this is the second export, because in the first one i couldn't figure out why it sounded so bad when looping so for the second one instead of fixing it i just played with the automation on the cutoff for the lower synth to make the jump sound intentional.

TRACK 11 052124a 0

another arpeggio attempt this time i was just trying to apply what i had learned the day before and i figured using orchestral samplers would be good practice as well. the piano and pizzicato strings are both flex samplers and the legato strings are from the fruity loops directwave library.
